Captains Courageous -- Kipling without the raging imperialism. It starts slow, but once the waves start rolling so does the movie. The relationship between Spencer Tracy's poor Portuguese fisherman Manuel (a great, Oscar-winning performance) and Freddie Bartholomew's stranded spoiled brat forms the core of what is ultimately an effective tale. Worth a look. Posted 11/28/07.
